Ways to Get Involved:
-
Visit the A/P Website regularly. Refer to the A/P Constituency web site and read the monthly A/P Council meeting minutes. This will help you keep up on campus issues that may affect A/P staff. See the Meeting Minutes page for the posted meeting minutes.
-
Attend A/P Council meetings as a guest. The A/P Council meetings are open and anyone is welcome to attend. There are usually plenty of seats around the perimeter of the room for guests and others that are invited to speak to the Council based on that month’s agenda. See the Meetings Schedule page for the meetings schedule.
-
Raise an Issue/Inquiry. If you are aware of an issue that affects you or potentially other A/P staff, help make a difference by raising the issue to the appropriate Standing Committee. Refer to the Standing Committees page for a list and description of each of the committees and the names of the representatives. You can also contact the chair of the A/P Staff Council.
-
Volunteer to Serve on a University Committee. Each term, campus A/P receive a form asking for volunteers to serve on a University Committee. Please take the time to fill out the form and return it to the SIUC Constituency Office. If you are currently interested, download a volunteer form, fill it out and either submit by email or print it to mail to the Professional Constituencies Office. See the University Committees page for a list/description of these committees. You may also contact one of the members of "Committee on Committees" and let them know what you might be interested in representing.
-
Run for Council. Each term, campus A/P receive a flyer in campus-mail announcing vacancies on the A/P Council. Being on the A/P Council is a great way to meet other A/P staff and to learn about the many campus issues that affect A/P. If you are interested, please take the time to fill out the form and return it to the SIU Constituency Office. For more information, refer to the Meet the Council page. Feel free to contact the chair of the A/P Staff Council with any questions.
